Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship

Supporting Rural Entrepreneurs with Startup Training, Mentorship, and Small Business Support in Northwest Washington

About

The Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship (CIE) is a nonprofit organization that supports rural entrepreneurs and small business owners across Clallam, Island, Jefferson, and Skagit Counties in Northwest Washington. CIE provides startup training, business advising, mentorship, and connection for individuals who have historically been excluded from traditional entrepreneurship programs.

The organization works closely with entrepreneurs from immigrant communities, communities of color, and low-income backgrounds, helping them build sustainable businesses at their own pace. Beyond business creation, CIE focuses on long-term stability, economic opportunity, and stronger local networks that support both individuals and their communities.

By combining practical guidance with relationship-based support, CIE helps entrepreneurs navigate challenges, access resources, and move forward with greater confidence.

In Their Words

“For many of the entrepreneurs we work with, the biggest challenge isn’t just access to information, it’s feeling isolated in the process. Creating space for people to learn from one another builds confidence and makes growth feel possible.” — Mike Skinner, Founder & Executive Director, Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship

How Networked Is Supporting Their Vision

As the Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship expands its support model, Networked provides the foundation for a private online community where entrepreneurs, mentors, advisors, and staff can connect in one secure space.

The platform allows CIE to introduce community gradually while maintaining clear boundaries that protect participants and encourage trust. As the space develops, it offers a structured hub for training resources, mentorship conversations, events, and peer learning, helping reduce fragmentation while strengthening connection across rural regions.

By creating an online environment that complements in-person advising and programs, Networked supports CIE’s goal of building a more connected and accessible ecosystem for rural entrepreneurs.

The Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship is strengthening rural business support through programs, mentorship, and a growing community network. Learn more about their work supporting entrepreneurs across Northwest Washington by visiting their community here.
